Viscose Silk

Silk is a naturally occurring protein fibre that may be woven into textiles. Silk's protein fibre, which is primarily composed of fibroin, is produced by certain insect larvae to build cocoons.

The best-known silk is made from the cocoons of mulberry silkworm larvae (Bombyx mori) raised in captivity. Silk's shimmering look is caused by the triangular prism-like structure of the silk fibre, which causes silk cloth to refract incoming light at different angles, resulting in diverse colours.

Several insects generate silk; however, only moth caterpillar silk has traditionally been employed in textile manufacturing. Some study has been conducted on various forms of silk that differ at the molecular level.
